I like Doctorow (both E.L. and Cory) and maybe should see if he has written anything recent.

Thanks to both of you for offering your suggestions.marigolds2https://www.blogger.com/profile/07683286608066261340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13049458.post-64045418761928758482010-08-22T09:07:42.557-06:002010-08-22T09:07:42.557-06:00I hesitate to recommend a book to someone as widel...I hesitate to recommend a book to someone as widely and deeply read as yourself; my own reading is quite limited. I did just finish "Ragtime" by E L Doctorow - if you haven't read that one, I would surely recommend it. That's a heartbreaker for sure. I just managed to get ahold of R. H. Blythe's four volume set on Haiku. Found them on Amazon for a reasonable price (around twenty dollars per book). If you are interested in pursuing haiku as part of your poetry writing practice, I highly recommend these. I've almost made it through Vol. 1, which is the history/influences of haiku, but I've also dipped into Volume 4 (Autumn-Winter). These are the books that people like Kerouac and Ginsberg read when they practiced haiku.Theresa Williamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00103717736011804799noreply@blogger.com
